It is very important for a bride to feel very comfortable in their wedding heels on the big day. One trick is to make sure that you break in the wedding shoes before you have to wear them. Below are tips for how to break in those bridal shoes after you've purchased them.
1. First, buy them early so you can start wearing the shoes around. You will actually need to buy the shoes before you get your dress altered so make sure you have them when you go to your alterations appointment.
2. Second, start wearing the shoes around the house. Try wearing them for an hour or 2 each time and walk around in them. The soles will be clean so you can wear them everywhere.
3. A month before the wedding, try and wear the shoes out on the concrete. Walking around in heels on carpet is a lot more comfortable and easy than walking around on concrete. Try going to the mall or someplace clean where you know the heels won't get scuffed up.
4. Next, consider shoe pads. There are plenty of different shoe pads depending on which part of the feet feel uncomfortable. There are pads that are for your heel or for the base of your foot. There are also pads that help your feet stay in the shoes and not slide around. There are also pads that go on the bottom of the shoe so that your shoes don't slide around on the slippery floor. Whatever pads you need, I would recommend the Foot Petals line. They have thought of everything and their pads are really cute as well.
5. During your dance lessons, try and bring your shoes with you to the lesson. At some point, the best thing to do is to practice dancing around in those shoes. Those will be the shoes you wear for your first dance so you don't want to trip on them, especially if you've only done the first dance in tennis shoes or flip flops. Practice in your wedding heels!
Finally, after your feet have gotten comfortable in the shoes, you will be ready to go. On the big day, make sure you have everything you need. Have the shoe pads already inserted. Bring baby powder if your feet tend to sweat. Bring foot lotion for a quick massage during or after the wedding. And, if all else fails, bring a pair of wedding flip flops to substitute for your wedding heels just in case all of that breaking in starts to wear off towards the end of the night. You wouldn't want your feet to hurt and cause you to have to sit down instead of going out there on the dance floor.
